Stephen Mathews joins Capsicum Re’s Mortgage Indemnity Reinsurance division
Capsicum Re, the specialist reinsurance broker, is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Mathews to its market leading Mortgage Indemnity Reinsurance division. Mathews is based in Capsicum Re’s New York office and is heading up the division’s global analytics capability. He reports to Steven Rance, Managing Partner of Mortgage Indemnity Reinsurance.
Prior to joining Capsicum Re, Stephen was Managing Director of Guy Carpenter where he was recruited by senior management from his role in Guy Carpenter Securities to act as a co-founder of Guy Carpenter’s Mortgage Credit Specialty Reinsurance Practice. Stephen utilized his mortgage and capital markets expertise to lead Guy Carpenter’s entry into Credit Risk Transfer (CRT) reinsurance. He brings 20 years of reinsurance, capital markets, and advisory experience, including extensive mortgage insurance expertise from his prior roles with Willis Capital Markets & Advisory, Banc of America Merrill Lynch, and Goldman Sachs & Co.
